Dean Court CAG
(Community Action Group)
Dean Court is a ward in the Oxfordshire Parish of Cumnor (though most people think we are part of Botley!) Like the rest of the CAG network, our mission in Dean Court is to minimise waste and maximise the quality of life in our community.
The CAG meets in the very middle of the ward, and while the Dean Court Social Club building is closed (hopefully to re-open soon as a Community Centre) the meeting point is the eco-cabin in our secretary's garden. We meet at 8pm on the fourth Thursday of every month, and on the first Saturday of every month we hold a swap shop on Pinnocks Green (weather permitting). We have our own 'Give and take' notice board, a kind of Freecycle where you can find or give away items too big to bring to the swap shop.
Meetings are informal and fun - seldom lasting more than an hour and usually accompanied by a glass of wine and good conversation. Anyone is welcome to turn up. There's no subscription and no pressure to do anything you don't want (or don't have time) to do. It's a good way of meeting kindred spirits who are keen to make life better by using fewer of the Earth's diminishing resources.
